Theatre Månegøgl – a One Woman Theatre, led and managed by writer and actress Hanne Trolle.

Theatre Månegøgl was the first theatre in Denmark to produce theatre for children as young as 1 1/2 year. Today the theatre produces and plays performances for children in the age 2 to 8 years and has specialised in playing poetic, musical and visual theatre.

The theatre tours all over Denmark and presentations are made in venues such as theatres, libraries, kindergartens and theatre associations. For many years Theatre Månegøgl has maintained returning guest performances at Anemoneteatret in Copenhagen.

Internationally Theatre Månegøgl has played several of its productions in countries such as England, Germany, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Greenland, both visiting festivals and on tours. Outside Europe the theatre has visited Japan on a number of occasions.

The production A hole in the Painting is invited by the Royal Danish Embassy to visit Washington in October 2010, where Theatre Månegøgl will represent Denmark on the Euro Kids Festival for Performing Arts. During this visit Hanne Trolle will be performing on among others The Kennedy Centre and on National Children’s Museum. The Danish Arts Council supports the tour.

Over the years the performances of Theatre Månegøgl has been seen by more than 200.000 children and their parents.

In 1992 Hanne Trolle received The Children’s Librarian’s Cultural Prize in recognition of her pioneering work in the field of theatre for small children. In August 2010 Hanne Trolle received an Honouring Prize from the Danish Writer’s Association in recognition of her work with art and culture for children. Furthermore Hanne Trolle has directed performances for the Uppercut Dance Theatre and for the Underground Music Theatre. Theatre Månegøgl receives financial support from the Danish Arts Council.
